Musician Moments: Nick Russell

Our musicians have been speaking about some of the most significant moments they have experienced whilst sharing Joy Through Live Music with Music in Hospitals & Care.

Nick Russell has been working with us in Wales since 2014.

“I was playing a concert at Sunrise of Cardiff; my performance was part of an event called ‘World Rocks Against Dementia’. There was a good atmosphere that day with lots of singing and some dancing and two residents had their birthdays. The best moment was in the middle of the concert when I was playing a few gentler songs amongst which was ‘In My Life’ by The Beatles.  One resident had his family with him and part way through the song, as I was singing, I noticed that they all moved a tiny bit closer and held hands. I realised at that point that these concerts have a unique contribution to make both to the quality of the residents’ lives and their families too.”
