Our Supporter Engagement Fundraiser, Sarah Gipps, explains how easy it is to use the free will-writing service provided by partners Jones Whyte solicitors. It’s a simple and stress-free process that has helped to give Sarah peace of mind.
As a mum of two young children and having recently moved house, 2024 felt like the right time to write my will. For a long time, I had also been interested in leaving a legacy to charity, so this was the perfect opportunity to put everything in place.
I used the free wills service provided by Jones Whyte solicitors in partnership with Music in Hospitals & Care, to arrange my will. I also chose to leave a donation to Music in Hospitals & Care, helping to keep the music playing for years to come.
The process was incredibly straightforward. I began by sending an email to arrange a free will using the contact details on the Music in Hospitals & Care website. Shortly after, Jones Whyte solicitors got in touch to explain how it all worked and to schedule a convenient time for my will-writing appointment.
Depending on your location, this meeting can take place in person or via video call, making it flexible and accessible.
Two weeks later, I had my appointment. Beforehand, Jones Whyte provided clear guidance on who I’d be meeting and what to expect.
The meeting itself lasted about 30–40 minutes. My solicitor was friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful. They took the time to explain the legal process clearly, and we discussed how assets could be divided in different scenarios. They also explained the roles of an executor and a guardian, helping me make informed decisions.
Although there was no obligation to do so, I chose to leave a legacy donation to Music in Hospitals & Care. Their work is close to my heart, and I knew this contribution would help share the joy of live music with even more people in health and care settings.
Shortly after our meeting, I received a draft copy of my will by post. I carefully reviewed it, then signed it in the presence of two witnesses, who also signed and provided their contact details. Once completed, I returned the signed draft to Jones Whyte.
Within four weeks, my finalised will arrived – professionally prepared, legally binding, and giving me a huge sense of relief.
Every step of this process was made simple by Jones Whyte. They explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and ensured my wishes were accurately reflected. The best part? The service was completely free.
If you don’t have a will yet, I’d highly recommend taking this step. Or, if you’re considering updating your existing will, the free wills service could be the perfect option for you.
Please give today to help improve the health and wellbeing of children and adults through the healing power of live music.
