We are delighted to have received a new grant for just over £30,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund so that more people isolated in healthcare settings can experience the healing power of live music through our #MusicEveryDay live stream sessions.
The live stream music sessions have been running since May and include open concerts for everyone to access on our social media channels and more personalised sessions for specific groups.
Lily Stark, Activities Coordinator at Sherwood House in Surrey, said: “The idea of the live [stream] shows is fantastic. The residents felt included in the event, especially as the singers did mention the name of our home. As always [Music in Hospitals & Care] provide amazing musicians. As you know family and friends are not able to enter the home so any outside input is important.”
The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK, has allowed us to bring staff back from furlough to signpost and promote our activity in order to reach more people with the sessions.

During this unimaginable crisis we have been heartened to see music continuing to offer shared experiences and connection. Now more than ever it is vital to connect with music for the benefit of health and wellbeing, which is why we launched #MusicEveryDay.”
Over the next six months the grant will support the live stream music sessions Music & Memories for people living with dementia, Lullaby Hour for parents and babies and Live in Your Lounge to uplift everyone’s health and wellbeing during this time.
