Rolling Hills are alive with the sound of music

During the last year we have seen, more than ever, how music brings people together, unlocks memories and supports health and wellbeing.

Like many choirs during lockdown, the Rolling Hills Chorus from Edinburgh had to pause their in person rehearsals. They have still been meeting online every week to sing old favourites and learn new  songs, but they missed their social contact so choir Director, Rosalind Johnson, started a monthly quiz. They decided to raise money for charities at the same time and in April, they chose Music in Hospitals & Care.

Rosalind said: “For us singing isn’t just a hobby, it’s a way of life. Creating music with others is an enriching, fulfilling and joyful experience and we are thrilled to have been able to support a wonderful charity like Music in Hospitals & Care that works so hard to bring this experience to those who will benefit so much from it”

A huge thank you to the group, who have raised an amazing £575. They know that music is an essential part of most people’s lives and thanks to their support more people in health and care settings will benefit from the healing power of live music.

Live music supports children’s mental health at Reuben’s Retreat

We’ve been sharing the joy of live music with children, their families and staff at Reuben’s Retreat in Glossop. The sessions are designed to soothe and support children with life limiting illnesses and offer an opportunity for families to connect with others who understand their experience.

Special live music for Burns Night

Burns Night celebrates the poems and songs of Scotland’s national bard Robert Burns and his lasting legacy. Our musician John Davidson is sharing two special live music experiences at Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen to commemorate the day.
