Thanking our outgoing Chair and Treasurer

On Thursday 3 November, following our Annual General Meeting, the trustees were joined by some of our volunteer ambassadors, musicians and supporters at London Canal Museum for a special event. The evening was a celebration of Music in Hospitals & Care as we look forward to our 75th year, and an opportunity to thank trustees Peter and Anne, who are stepping down from their roles.

Anne O’Hagan has been invaluable to the charity as its Honorary Treasurer, providing her expertise and input into the Annual Report and Accounts since 2017.

We also thank Peter Fairlie for his many years of support for the charity. He first got involved in 2010, joining the board in 2014 and becoming Chair in 2016.

Vice Chair Maureen Hall became a trustee for Music in Hospitals & Care in 2018 and will be stepping into the position of Chair.

Peter said

“It has been a privilege to be a trustee and Chair of Music in Hospitals & Care. My time with the charity has been made extremely enjoyable by our many wonderful supporters and the impact of our live music. With our anniversary coming up next year, I wish our trustees, staff, musicians and volunteer ambassadors all the very best.”

Maureen said:

“I am delighted to become the Chair of this charity. The health and care providers we work with face more challenges than ever, but I look forward to working with my fellow trustees, and of course our staff, musicians and all other partners to keep delivering live music where it is needed most. We have ambitious plans to develop our new strategy and aim to become the music charity of choice in the healthcare sector. I also really look forward to honouring the past and looking forward to a very positive future as we celebrate our 75th in 2023.”

Student Volunteering Week: Molly

It’s Student Volunteering Week, and we’re celebrating the important role student volunteers play in helping us share the joy of live music with communities across the UK.

Children’s Mental Health Week: Reuben’s Retreat

We’ve been sharing the joy of live music with children, their families and staff at Reuben’s Retreat in Glossop. The sessions are designed to soothe and support children with life limiting illnesses and offer an opportunity for families to connect with others who understand their experience.

Special live music for Burns Night

Burns Night celebrates the poems and songs of Scotland’s national bard Robert Burns and his lasting legacy. Our musician John Davidson is sharing two special live music experiences at Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen to commemorate the day.
