Rotary Club of Aberdeen Balgownie Raises the Roof

The Rotary Club of Aberdeen Balgownie has raised the roof and £517 for Music in Hospitals & Care in Scotland. Their music fundraising evening raised a fantastic amount and lots of awareness about MiHC Scotland’s work bringing the joy of live music to people of all ages in healthcare settings.

Thanks to Grampian Youth Orchestra members and our own, Jason Sweeney, the audience were treated to a diverse mix of classical, pop, rock and even heavy metal.

“Jason provided something for everyone and carried some folk into new genres, with a delightful, powerful bit of Heavy Metal.”

Thank you to all involved in organising and hosting this brilliant event including the musicians, Rotary Club members and MiHC Scotland local ambassador for Aberdeen, Bill Cowling.

If you are a Rotary club, Probus, Soroptimist or community group and would like to organise a fundraising event for Music in Hospitals & Care or would like to find out more about joining our network of local ambassador volunteers – please contact sarah@mihc.org.uk.

Student Volunteering Week: Molly

It’s Student Volunteering Week, and we’re celebrating the important role student volunteers play in helping us share the joy of live music with communities across the UK.

Children’s Mental Health Week: Reuben’s Retreat

We’ve been sharing the joy of live music with children, their families and staff at Reuben’s Retreat in Glossop. The sessions are designed to soothe and support children with life limiting illnesses and offer an opportunity for families to connect with others who understand their experience.

Special live music for Burns Night

Burns Night celebrates the poems and songs of Scotland’s national bard Robert Burns and his lasting legacy. Our musician John Davidson is sharing two special live music experiences at Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen to commemorate the day.
