Katie and Amy take on the Helvellyn Triathlon and raise over £1,000!

At Music in Hospitals & Care, we are blessed to have some amazing supporters who believe in the huge value our work brings to people’s lives and work hard to raise the funds we need to allow us to share the healing power of music with so many.

We were bowled over when we heard from Katie and Amy Alcock, a mother and daughter team from Leamington Spa who took part in the epic Helvellyn Triathlon in the Lake District in September.

A triathlon is no mean feat. Katie and Amy swam 1 mile, cycled for 38 miles (including ‘The Struggle’ – an infamous route up the 1489ft Kirkstone Pass), and finished with a 9 mile fell run up and down Helvellyn, the third highest mountain in England with an elevation of 3118ft.

Katie said: “Raising money always gives a huge incentive to get to the finish line and as we are both musicians we were excited to raise so much money for Music in Hospitals & Care. It took Amy 5.5 hours and myself 6.5 hours, most of which was in pouring rain but the sun came out at the end!”

Amy and Katie have raised over £1,003 for Music in Hospitals & Care, an amazing total for a valliant effort! We are so grateful for your support and thanks to you, more people will experience healing power of live music.

Children’s Mental Health Week: Reuben’s Retreat

We’ve been sharing the joy of live music with children, their families and staff at Reuben’s Retreat in Glossop. The sessions are designed to soothe and support children with life limiting illnesses and offer an opportunity for families to connect with others who understand their experience.
