In 2025/26 we focused on setting the right note for the future. Like many charities, we continue to navigate the challenges of an uncertain economic climate. We had to make difficult decisions about where to share our live music and consider what growth means in this context. We have entered 2026/27 with greater clarity on the direction of our programmes and more insight into the impact of our live music.
In hospitals, 28% of people experienced less physical pain, while in care homes, 52% of people expressed themselves more as a result of our live music.

We continued to diversify our income, raising more than we have ever raised through a single appeal with a total of over £60,000, and saw a 27% increase in grants from trusts and foundations. We took care in how we achieved this – working in partnership and collaboration. This would not have been possible without our health and care partners, our talented musicians and our supporters and volunteers, including our trustees.
Our current strategy comes to an end in 2028. Over the next two years, we will continue to strengthen the organisation, moving closer to a future of sustainable live music and our vision that everyone can access and experience the joy of live music.
Together, in 2025/26 we reached over 37,000 people, creating 1,584 hours of laughter, singing, dancing and connection. Your support truly helps to keep the music playing across the UK.

An unforgettable evening of wine, music and song
Join us on Thursday 24 September at the historic St James Garlickhythe Church in central London for a very special evening of live music. Guests will enjoy wine and canapés from 6:30pm, with music starting at 7:30pm until around 9:20pm.
Celebrating Make Music Day with more interactive Music Jams
Our Music Jam initiative is due to be rolled out to hospitals across the UK after demonstrating for more than a decade the positive impact it has on the mental health and wellbeing of patients in Edinburgh.
