Musician Spotlight: Sian Francis

Our Musician Spotlight for November is Sian Francis, who has been working with us in Wales since 2018 and is well loved for both her lively interactive sessions and calming Lullaby Hour sessions for babies and children.

How did you first get involved with Music in Hospitals & Care?

I joined Music in Hospitals & Care after seeing a post on Facebook about Lullaby Hour starting in the North of England. I knew then that I needed to be involved and started fundraising to enable Lullaby Hour sessions to start in Wales. It’s been a great journey since then becoming a musician and also an ambassador for the charity.

What have been some of your highlights?

The Lullaby Hour sessions are so magical and rewarding.  Being able to visit a bedside and sing a child’s favourite song is something that I’m truly thankful for.

How have the live stream Lullaby Hour sessions been?

The live stream sessions are different from the face to face encounters but are still exciting and rewarding. Social media gives your the possibility to perform to a whole host of children nationally and around the world. We’ve had children from Australia tune in!

Kindness in harmony at Companies House

This Random Acts of Kindness Day, we are celebrating the Companies House choir in Cardiff, which brings colleagues together to boost wellbeing and raise funds for Music in Hospitals & Care.

Student Volunteering Week: Molly

It’s Student Volunteering Week, and we’re celebrating the important role student volunteers play in helping us share the joy of live music with communities across the UK.

Children’s Mental Health Week: Reuben’s Retreat

We’ve been sharing the joy of live music with children, their families and staff at Reuben’s Retreat in Glossop. The sessions are designed to soothe and support children with life limiting illnesses and offer an opportunity for families to connect with others who understand their experience.
