Celebrating 25 years of support from The RC Sherriff Trust

30th January 2020

Music in Hospitals & Care will receive funding from The RC Sheriff Trust for a 25th year to bring live music sessions to healthcare settings across the Elmbridge borough.

The latest funds from the Trust bring the total to just under £50,000 awarded since it first began supporting Music in Hospitals & Care in 1995.

The charity provides almost 5,000 live music sessions per year, reaching over 90,000 people in hospitals, hospices, care homes, day centres, special schools and community settings across the UK. Working with professional musicians, it brings the therapeutic benefits of live music to audiences who may not otherwise be unable to access it due to illness or disability.

The RC Sherriff Trust believes in the value of bringing live music into healthcare settings:

“We are honoured to have been supporting Music in Hospitals & Care and the incredible service it provides for over two decades. The charity is a perfect example of how the arts can be used to address, and tackle, issues of health and wellbeing across communities. The Trust are thrilled to be able to continue our support in 2020 and look forward to the fantastic events that are planned this year.” – Pete Allen, Director, The RC Sherriff Trust.

Music in Hospitals & Care is well established in the Elmbridge area with regular visits to local care homes and a South England office located in Walton-on-Thames, in addition to involvement in public events such as Walton Beer and Wine Festival and the charity’s own ‘Concert and Cake’ series at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre.

“We are delighted and very grateful that The RC Sherriff Trust have chosen to support Music in Hospitals & Care for a 25th year. The funds will allow us to continue providing joyful moments and therapeutic experiences for people in Elmbridge that find themselves in hospital or care this year.”
– Barbara Osborne, Chief Executive, Music in Hospitals & Care.
