Musicians’ Day 2017

Ty Gwyn Special School in Cardiff 3rd July 2017

This June, our annual Musicians’ Day was held at Ty Gwyn Special School in Cardiff. Over 25 Artists met to hear specialist speakers Dr Nigel Marshall of Sussex University, Dr Kagari Shibazaki of Seirei Christopher University, Hamamatsu, Japan and Dr Catherine Norton from the University Hospital of Wales share their expertise in the fields of child psychology, paediatrics and Music Therapy: knowledge which the artists will be able to apply to their own music when performing live concerts on behalf of the charity.

After the morning sessions, the school hall was transformed into a performance space where both primary and secondary pupils of Ty Gwyn enjoyed a live concert performing by cello/violin folk duo ‘Pegbox’. Angeliki Tzagkaraki, Head of Music, said “Our pupils had great fun with the Pegbox duo! Many of the children were bouncing and dancing to the music. It was a fantastic experience!”.

To our delight, Ty Gwyn have offered to design Wales’ 2017 Christmas Cards – so keep an eye out for these beautiful new designs coming soon!
