Exciting new partnership with Age UK

A new partnership between Music in Hospitals & Care and Age UK branches across the North of England will bring regular live music concerts to  12 Age UK centres from March 2019.

Our outreach live music concerts are very popular with elderly people, and are an effective way of reaching out to people who may have become isolated and lonely, including those living within our communities with dementia or other health issues.

This three year project is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and will be launched with an inaugural concert to be held at Age UK Manchester, Crossacres Resource Centre, Wythenshawe on Friday 1st March.

The concerts are open to anyone over 50 who will benefit from participating in a fun and welcoming cultural and social event. MiHC professional musicians will provide an exciting and varied programme of regular concerts, so there’ll be something for everyone!

Student Volunteering Week: Molly

It’s Student Volunteering Week, and we’re celebrating the important role student volunteers play in helping us share the joy of live music with communities across the UK.

Children’s Mental Health Week: Reuben’s Retreat

We’ve been sharing the joy of live music with children, their families and staff at Reuben’s Retreat in Glossop. The sessions are designed to soothe and support children with life limiting illnesses and offer an opportunity for families to connect with others who understand their experience.

Special live music for Burns Night

Burns Night celebrates the poems and songs of Scotland’s national bard Robert Burns and his lasting legacy. Our musician John Davidson is sharing two special live music experiences at Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen to commemorate the day.
