The Expedition

Date: 13th – 17th May 2019
Duration: 5 Days
Charity Team Size: Min 6 Trekkers, Max 24 Trekkers
Leader: Jake Thompsett (JT Expeditions)
Deposit: £175 per person to secure your place
Minimum Sponsorship: £1,500 per person (required 8 weeks before departure)

Your Itinerary:

Day 1: UK to Marrakech and transfer to Imlil… where we’ll spend the night in a lovely gite at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains.

Day 2: Full Day of Trekking: Imlil to the the Toubkal Refuge Hut…
Trek to the mountian refuge at 3207m, via the beautiful Azzadene valley, en route to the foot of Mount Toubkal.

Day 3: Full Day of Trekking: The Timzguida and Ras Ouanoukrim Peaks…
Today we’ll spend the day accenting Timzguida at 4089m, followed by Roas Ouanoukrim at 4083m. After these two fairly stiff climbs, we’ll return to the Refuge for a well earned rest!

Day 4: Mount Toubkal Summit and Marrakech…
On Day 4 we ascent Mount Toubkal at 4167m, and then descend to Imil before driving back to Marrakech. We’ll enjoy some relaxation time in our luxury Riad, before a big team celebration in the famous Souke!

Day 5: Transfer from Marrakech back home to UK

What’s Included?

Accommodation: In Marrakesh we will stay in a luxury Riad near the souks. We’ll camp in tents (provided) throughout the trek phase.

Food: All food is provided. In Marrakesh we will eat at the markets and restaurants, then during the trek we will be provided with a plentiful range of Moroccan food and mint tea!

Travel: All travel is provided throughout, including flights. In Morocco, we’ll use a mixture of private 4×4’s and minivans.

Leaders: A UK Expedition Leader with guide the group throughout. In Morocco we will have local guides, muleteers and cook staff.

Live Music: No Music in Hospitals & Care trip would be complete without some feel-good, live and local music! The perfect way to unwind after a full day of trekking.

Not Included?

Insurance, Visas, vaccinations, tips, extra food and drinks (aside from the 3 meals a day), and spending money are not included as part of the expedition. Personal equipment and clothing are also not included.

Fitness Levels:

This trek is challenging but fully achievable for people with little to no hiking experience. The best preparation you can do is to spend time on your feet as well as doing cardiovascular and strength training. The fitter you are, the more enjoyable the trip will be.
