Carolling and festive live music at Merchant Square

Floating Pocket Park at Merchant Square, Paddington, W2 1AN 8th December 2021

Join Music in Hospitals & Care in the unique Floating Pocket Park at Merchant Square, Paddington, on Wednesday 8 December at 1pm for some carol singing and festive live music from:

Paul Kerr and The Boneshaker Band

Paul works with Music in Hospitals & Care to share live music in hospitals, care homes and hospices. Since 2005 he has shared over 1200 live music experiences and was a regular in the Critical Care unit as part of our award winning ICU Hear programme, at St Mary’s Hospital Paddington before the pandemic.

The Boneshaker Band formed after a splendid and extravagant vintage ball at the RAC Club in Pall Mall, London in 2013. The vintage ball required a repertoire of music from the 20s and 30s for strictly dancing despite little room to move on a shimmering, dazzling packed dance floor.

The band came together specially for that event. They went down a storm with the glittering audience and so decided to form The Boneshaker Band, extending the repertoire for concert, nightclub and festival audiences. Today the repertoire is best described as a smorgasbord of musical delights. Now they play concerts, nightclubs, festivals and other special events including ‘that private party on the Orient Express’ in 2019 which started in Paris and ended in Venice.

Phoebe Gorry Jazz Trio

We welcomed Phoebe Gorry to the charity in 2016 , since then she has shared over 150 hours of  jazz vocals with people in care homes, children’s hospital wards, hospices and special schools.

Currently writing her debut album, Phoebe is an artist in high demand and has performed at venues and festivals all over the world. Her breathy voice flirts with the cloying depths of Lady Day and adopts a crisp and clear passionate tone for classic jazz standards and jazzy reworks of modern hits, guaranteed to make the hairs on your neck stand up. Phoebe’s band are made up of world class jazz musicians whose performance credits include Jeff Beck, Beverley Knight, Soweto Kinch and prestigious London jazz venue Ronnie Scotts.
