Pause Play: COVID-19 emergency appeal

I think music brings harmony. In a literal sense it is full of moving harmony, but it can bring harmony to everyone’s life. And the people we play for definitely need harmony.

Dear friends and supporters,

Since 1948, Music in Hospitals & Care has been breaking down the barriers which prevent people, regardless of their health or wellbeing, from accessing the therapeutic benefits of live music. Our sessions are designed to humanise clinical settings, reach and connect people, encourage communication and meaningful interactions and evoke emotions and memories when it matters most.

During this unimaginable crisis we are heartened to see music continuing to offer shared experiences and connection.

It’s been so difficult to have had to press pause on our live music sessions in response to the current situation.

Thanks to the support received to date for our Pause Play: COVID-19 emergency appeal, we were able to offer financial support to our musicians who were booked to play in March and April.

The money you donated has also meant we have been able to practise live stream music delivery and we are planning a regular programme of music to reach people and meet demand.

As soon as it is safe to do so, we want to deliver our concerts in person to those whose lives are made better through live music. On the other side of this, music will have a key part to play in our collective healing.

In the meantime, we remain determined to find new ways to bring live music to as many people as possible in hospitals, care homes and those isolated in the community. In these most difficult of times, we will continue to play our part to spread joy.

Please do follow us on social media to find out about our live stream music delivery.

Your support has been amazing and has meant more than you could ever know. Thank you.
