Vote for our Terrific Trustee Alan Jacques in the Scottish Charity Awards

14th August 2020

We are delighted that our trustee, Dr Alan Jacques, has been shortlisted for this year’s Scottish Charity Awards in the ‘Terrific Trustee’ category. Votes are now open for the People’s Choice Award.

Alan is one of our longest serving volunteers. As a trustee he has improved outcomes for the charity across Scotland using his networks and expertise in Dementia, as well as his work with the Equality Network and LGBT Health and Wellbeing, his own experience of profound hearing loss from Ménière’s Disease and of course his love of music.

We nominated Alan for his outstanding efforts and achievements spanning 30 years in support of the charity, giving his time and skills as a musician, volunteer, committee member, supporter, adviser and fundraiser to help reach and connect people with live music.

Barbara Osborne, Chief Executive said: “We’re delighted to feature alongside so many incredible charities in Scotland and it is testament to our loyal and dedicated supporters. It’s a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of our volunteers, particularly Alan Jacques, and their dedication to sharing live music with people across Scotland.”

Alan said of his nomination: “Thank you so much, I’m really chuffed and truly speechless too! It’s just great to be involved in such a worthwhile and creative charity, and to be able to offer my occasionally welcome semiquavers-worth. It really is wonderful to see the difference live music can make to people.”

Run annually by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), the Scottish Charity Awards celebrate the best of Scotland’s voluntary sector. This year’s shortlist includes 45 individuals and organisations from charities and voluntary groups across the country. While a judging panel will determine the winners under eight distinct categories, members of the public can have their say by voting for their favourite overall entry in the People’s Choice Award.

Please vote for Music in Hospitals & Care and our ‘Terrific Trustee’ here on the SCVO website before 5pm on Friday 4 September.

The winners will be announced on Friday 25 September in an online ceremony. Thank you!
