Who we support

A Music in Hospitals & Care performance lasts just over an hour, but our musicians provide more than just live music. They will arrive in good time for their performance, allowing time to meet their audience, and will stay to chat with audience members about the kind of day they have had or the memories the music has sparked. This is particularly welcomed by patients who have little contact with relatives or friends.

Like all individuals, the people who access and benefit from our service are unique. They have a wide variety of healthcare conditions, needs and access many different types of support. Therefore, it’s difficult for us to succinctly categorise the audiences that we reach. The following links give a general overview of some of the people and healthcare settings we benefit through MiHC, but this is by no means exhaustive. For details about more specific areas of our work, such as our pioneering projects within Intensive Care Units, or Mental Health cafes and our work with Veterans, please see our News pages.

  • It was lovely to see all the brothers and sisters, cousins, friends, aunts, grans, staff and volunteers all having such good fun singing and enjoying the music.
