As we look forward to our next Musicians’ Week taking place in November, we are pleased to share a great resource that came out of the virtual event we held earlier in the year. The week included a series of panel discussions, presentations and Q&As with experts in different areas of music and health to share learning and give our musicians the opportunity to reflect on their practice.
Our fantastic speakers Katey Warran (Research Fellow, UCL), Jo Stockdale (Founder, Well Within Reach), Andy Lowndes (Deputy Chair, Playlist for Life), Grace Meadows (Campaign Director, Music for Dementia) and Maria McGill (former CEO, CHAS and Highland Hospice) shared really valuable knowledge and insights about arts in health, mental health and music, music for wellbeing in critical care, music for people living with dementia, and hospice care.
These ‘sketchnotes’, created by illustrator The Boy Fitz Hammond, capture each of the sessions in a visual format that we hope will be useful for our health and care settings, partner organisations and anyone else who is interested in learning more about the impact music can have in each of these areas.
“I am genuinely touched at the care and consideration of the sketchnoter who has captured my presentation on a single sketch – if I’m honest my life’s work on a sketch – and with my hero’s all there too.”
Maria McGill, guest speaker
