Musician Moments: Amy Rayner

Our musicians have been speaking about some of the most significant moments they have experienced whilst sharing Joy Through Live Music with Music in Hospitals & Care.

Amy Rayner has been working with us in Scotland since 2014.

“I think my most memorable moment was when I was playing for a ward at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline and a man who was there with dementia decided to get up and dance with his wife who was visiting him while I played ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ by Elvis. It was hard not to get choked up and I noticed that a few of the nurses were getting a bit teary watching them! It was a very touching moment. Another time I always remember fondly was when I was performing for a young girl at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. She couldn’t speak or move much but the way her face lit up when she heard the music was so lovely, I didn’t want to leave!”
