This year our wonderful local ambassador volunteer, Robin Barr, was shortlisted for the Scottish Charity Award’s Charity Champion for his 40 years of dedication to Music in Hospitals & Care (MiHC). In that time, Robin has helped to recruit MiHC musicians to deliver concerts across the country, raised awareness about our work and raised thousands of pounds which has enabled us to bring the joy of live music to many people of all ages across Scotland. On 14 June, we attended the awards ceremony amongst a high calibre of volunteers and other charitable organisations.
In the Charity Champion category, Laura Reid, won the category for Support in Mind Scotland for her campaigning and fundraising work for the charity. She raised awareness about mental health and male suicide prevention following the loss of her son Calum, who died by suicide at the age of 21, after struggling with mental illness.
Congratulations to all the nominees and the winner, Laura Reid, who have all excelled to the highest level in campaigning and raising funds for their chosen charities.
Please give today to help improve the health and wellbeing of children and adults through the healing power of live music.
