70:70 – East Lothian musicians raise £250 for Music in Hospitals & Care Scotland

Scotland 11th July 2018

It was soaring melodies and beautiful music at Portobello and Joppa Parish Parish Church recently as three fabulous musicians from Musselburgh serenaded the congregation to raise funds for Music in Hospitals & Care Scotland.

Thank You!

Hugh thanks to Ellen McNeill (soprano), Peter McNeill (horn player) and Fiona Carlile (piano) who performed an excellent recital to Portobello and Joppa Parish Church goers which raised £250 as part of the 70:70 Choir Project.

How it will make a difference

This total was raised for Music in Hospitals & Care during its 70th anniversary year and will make a big difference to our work. Each year, we bring the joy of live music to patients and residents who otherwise would not have any access to live music entertainment whilst they are in hospital or care settings. We bring a lot of pleasure and happiness to people who are unable to attend public concerts themselves, focusing not only on the performance but also on audience interaction. Last year alone, we reached 30,000 people from 5 months to 101 years old.

Would you like to hold a fundraising performance for us?

We’re currently looking for 15 Scotland based music groups, choirs or ensembles to hold a fundraising performance on our behalf to reach 70 performances across the UK to celebrate MiHC’s 70th birthday.

If you’d like to take part in the 70:70 Project, whether you’re a musician, choir or ensemble, do get in touch by phone 0131 556 5848 or email: sarah@mihc.org.uk.
